“As 80 years have now passed since the end of the Second World War in Europe, I think I should point out to younger viewers (!) that the first person looking at the stack of stolen canvases is Adolf Hitler and the second person, also looking at a similar stack, and much later on is the American General - Dwight Eisenhower. If I am not mistaken a later shot of marching troops appears to show British soldiers. Whilst this information has no bearing on the topic of the artwork of Hermann Gross, there may be a few viewers puzzled at this particular sequence.” RJ
